The wife of former Genesis star Phil Collins was unaware their marriage was ending, insisting separation speculation was untrue just hours before her husband announced their split on Wednesday.
Collins' wife of six years, Orianne, maintained: "It is absolute rubbish to say we are separating or divorcing," and her friends confirm she hadn't entertained the idea, despite an increasingly rocky marriage.
One pal tells The Sun: "Orianne was not overly happy. She said last year that she had married too young but there was never a question of them getting divorced."
Meanwhile, Orianne's mother refused to believe the news, saying: "As far as I am concerned they are together."
Collins, who split from the progressive rock group in 1996 to concentrate on his burgeoning solo career, was married two times before settling down with Orianne.
