Phil Collins kicks off the 2016 US Open at Arthur Ashe stadium

Phil Collins, along with "Hamilton" star Leslie Odom Jr. and Mayor Bill deBlasio presided over the US Open’s Opening Night Ceremony in Arthur Ashe Stadium on August 29, 2016. The festivities marked the public debut of the stadium's new retractable roof.

At the U.S. Open’s opening ceremonies in Queens, New York on Monday night, Collins tapped the recent Tony-winner and former Hamilton star to fill Philip Bailey’s part on the 1984 hit, "Easy Lover." Collins introduced Odom Jr. to the stage, saying the former Aaron Burr actor is "a good friend of mine now."

Before "Easy Lover," Collins performed his signature song, "In the Air Tonight," to the delight of fans at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The 65-year-old Collins has performed rarely over the past six years. He returned to the public stage in March for a gig benefiting the children’s charity he cofounded, Little Dreams Foundation.
