Today’s presser took place at L Bar Cocktail Lounge & Bar at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., and the press release sent out yesterday was apparently issued on behalf of the venue.
But instead of a global road trip, Collins talked about his plans to perform at the "Dreaming On The Beach Benefit Gala" scheduled for March 11 at the Fillmore Theater in Miami Beach.
Established by Collins and third wife Orianne, the Little Dreams Foundation works to aid young aspiring talent to fulfill their goals. The couple divorced in 2008 but recently reconciled.
The New Times Broward-Palm Beach reports that Collins "never fully recovered from vertebra surgery in 2009 that has limited his left (dominant) hand, curtailing his drumming." The newspaper also noted that Collins underwent back surgery last year and that his "right foot is still in a plastic brace."
"I would say returning to performing is a possibility, but a world tour? Please …" Collins said, according to New Times Broward-Palm Beach. "I miss it quite a bit, and my kids would love it, but I’m not going to commit myself."
But Collins is committed to performing acoustically at the benefit, with backing provided by his "plugged-in" kids, according to the newspaper.
