Former Genesis lead singer Peter Gabriel offered a short, simple tribute to the late David Bowie on his Facebook page on Monday, sharing his cover of Bowie’s classic single "Heroes."
Gabriel’s version of the song, originally recorded in November 2014 eschews the original’s guitar-driven melody for an orchestral approach, and has become part of his live performances, including his appearance at a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall that same month.
Gabriel’s post can be seen below.
"Heroes, for me, was always one of the great Bowie tracks. It is heroism in the face of oppression and desperation; it’s something triumphant despite the desperate situation" – Peter Gabriel on Monday, January 11, 2016
