Watch Mercy Street from the Back to Front film

After the release of his fourth album, Peter Gabriel was in top of his game with some dark and innovative pop music.
The fourth album was a perfect combination of world music and pop and had his most adventurous music. The next album "So" was more commercially oriented with some good songs, but simple songwriting. The songs "Don't give up" and "Mercy Street" is a good example of songs that have an immediate impact on you but contains simple lyrics and repetitive motifs. And for this 25th anniversary, it was time to play this album in its entirety.

The show starts with no light show and on an acoustic mode. And it's during the nice interpretation of the song "Family Snapshot" that the lights come out. The electric set starts with the next song "Digging in the Dirt". Then arrive 2 more nice interpretations of 2 songs that are on the darker side: "The Family and the Fishing Net" and "No Self Control". The popular song "Solsbury Hill" marks another change of mood and the opportunity to see some striking crowd reactions. The director will show us during the most popular songs of the concert those crowd reactions from very close. Then the album "So" starts with his best song "Red Rain" and the appropriate red color light show on the stage. The most popular Gabriel's song "Sledgehammer" shows the influence of the 60's soul music. The show will end with the political song "Biko". Just before that the visuals are very impressive during the song from the album "Ovo", "The Town that Ate People". And if the show is visually appealing, there's some extreme close ups of Peter Gabriel throughout the show with cameras that are above the stage.

This is the most impressive concert DVD visually in the Peter Gabriel discography with a perfect picture and finally a light show that we can see.
