Review: Peter Gabriel Mesmerizes New York Audience With ‘New Blood’ Orchestra Performance

Peter Gabriel made it to the ‘Big Time’ years ago, which these days affording him the luxury to create art at a leisurely pace and indulge in just about any project he desires. His latest endeavor, ‘New Blood,’ is an album featuring reworked versions of his own music with an orchestra, and on Wednesday (Nov. 9) he hit the stage of New York’s Ed Sullivan Theater to perform songs from the disc as part of the ‘Live on Letterman’ concert series (watch the show in its entirety here).

Peter Gabriel Draws ‘New Blood’

Acclaimed British rock musician Peter Gabriel is highly regarded in the music industry, known for his work in the progressive rock outfit Genesis as well as an extensive solo career. He is unique in that his music is not restricted to one genre. His repertoire crosses over many genres of pop and rock in albums such as his first four self-titled ones, like "So" and more recently, his album "Scratch My Back," which consists of cover versions of songs by indie rock and progressive artists with his vocals and orchestra.

DVD Review: Peter Gabriel - New Blood - Live in London

Does anyone besides me miss the old Peter Gabriel? You know, the guy who used to dress like a giant flower, or wear a rectangular shaped box on his head, all the while reciting nonsensical stories to introduce his songs with Genesis in concert? Or how about the guy who, as a solo artist, made those wonderfully arty, but nonetheless goofy videos for songs like "Sledgehammer"?
