GaryAs of course with all of the shows being essentially (if not exactly) the same, it's sort of pointless doing a review of last nights show. However, for us this Cleveland show was a far better than what we saw in Toronto 3 weeks earlier purely down to the size of the venue. In Toronto we were at the way back of the soccer field while last night we were in scoring position on the Cleveland Cavalier's basketball court! Far better view and hence far better experience all round. Although it's been good to see both types of shows and setups on this tour, you've really got to wonder (from an audience's perspective) the value of the stadium shows - they're simply far too big and impersonal. Being in a relatively small (basketball) arena last night the atmosphere was far superior. So that's it, no big review, but just a few comments! I guess the other thing that sort of strikes you when you see more than one show on any type of tour is the lack of change-up in the inter-song 'banter'. Surely by now, the G-men must be getting so fed up with the same old intro's to (for instance) Home By The Sea and Domino, and surely Phil could think up different approaches to take from night to night!
Anyway, kudo's to Cleveland for a great night all round, friendly people, great arena, great bars afterwards!
Hillary CrossWell the Cleveland show was better than I could have ever dreamed. It was like being in a trance for 3 hours. It is always nice to see how others react to songs you know and love. I got alot of goodies t-shirts, a poster, big keychain, the "blinky", Phil collins The long Good night dvd, tour program, fake backstage pass, ad I plan to order the cd of the show today ...I think from a site called themusic. My seats were incredible on the floor. We were in the last 2 seats on the right in section HHH. THe light show was incredible, even though it looked like they could only use the middle chunk of the screen, due to the venue layout.
Mama has been my favorite song forever and it was beyond great to see it live finally. My husband (fan by association-- and me listening constantly to the music in the house and car) really enjoyed Home by the sea/Second home by the sea. I enjoyed every song. My husband said it looked like I was in a trace.
I was actually suprised how popular In a Cage was at the show. People went nuts. That was the only song that I really questioned being in the setlist, but it was great and the video was great behind it. Being I am 28, I guess that one slipped by somehow.
Follow you follow me was nice. All the couples were swaying and kissing here and there. Now my reaction is to just fly somewhere this weekend alone and go and see it again!!!!! My husband has to work 2 weekends in a row since he had this weekend off, but I would love to do it again. I had such a great time. I also made it to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
I stayed at the Hyatt again since Phil stayed at the Hyatt when I saw the FFT in Columbus....AND he was staying there. They have great security and set up for famous people. Never saw him there. I did see black SUV vehicles parked on top of one section of the hotel roof/VIP parking. There were 2 black big SUVs and I looked in that direction and saw a guy once up there and he was wearing a shirt that said local crew. Also I could see from our hotel room down to the street and there were alot of people holding things in their hand. I guess they were hoping to see Phil.
I met alot of friendly Genesis fans on the street while walking around in my Land of Confusion Jersee t-shirt! What a great experience!!!!
