CD/DVD: Genesis - A Trick Of The Tail [Enhanced]

It's also one of a number of Genesis albums that has recently seen reissue in the new, double-disc enhanced format from Rhino/Wea. In addition to the audio CD, the set includes a DVD with all the audio tracks (displaying video of a segment of the album's parade of characters, in 3D cutout, depending on the song playing.) The audio for the tracks can be set to either Digital Dolby or DTS.

Beyond the DVD audio tracks, there are three music videos. "Robbery, Assault and Battery" is performed like a bit of a skit with Collins on the run from the police for having murdered Mike Rutherford, while "Ripples..." is a straightforward performance video. "A Trick of the Tail", meanwhile, is a silly and somewhat embarrassing mixture, being a performance piece that features cutaway segments to a miniaturized Collins wearing mukluks prancing about on the piano keys or sitting astride Rutherford's guitar.

True grooviness is to be had, however, in the remainder of the special features, which include a click-thru version of the 1977 "White Rocks" programme, new title-specific interviews with Collins, Rutherford, Tony Banks and Steve Hackett, and seven songs videotaped from the 1976 tour.

All in all, this is a reissue that's worth the price and effort of replacing your current copy.
