Peter Gabriel is supporting Amnesty International on his four-date tour of Chile, Argentina and Mexico, starting tonight (Nov. 16, 2011) in Santiago in Chile.
Gabriel is touring his acclaimed "New Blood” album, released last month, and he and his "New Blood Orchestra” are playing the Moviestar Arena in Santiago (16th), the Estadio Geba in Buenos Aires (18th), the National Auditorium in Mexico City (23rd), and the Auditorio Telmex in Guadalajara, Mexico (26th).
Peter Gabriel said:
"Free expression and human rights have been the life-blood of so much of the work I've done in the last few decades and Amnesty's campaigning has been a life-changing part of that".
"Those of us who have the eyes and ears of the media have a responsibility to amplify the voices of the voiceless".
"I'd be delighted if everyone who comes to one of my concerts picks up some Amnesty literature and checks out their work.”
Jo Metcalf, Head of Art For Amnesty, said:
"Peter Gabriel is a legendary musician who has been a fantastic ambassador for human rights for many years".
"We’re thrilled he’s working with us again during this tour".
"Amnesty is very lucky to have the support of some incredible artists and Peter is certainly one of them.”
