Peter Gabriel brings "New Blood" back to North America

Peter Gabriel, who played Los Angeles and New York last year with his New Blood Orchestra, plans to bring his show to a dozen North American cities this summer.

Eight dates and venues have been confirmed for the outing, and shows are also in the works for Berkeley, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; Dallas; and Milwaukee, but specifics haven't been nailed down. The kick-off will be June 10 at a yet-to-be announced venue in Berkeley.

Tickets go on sale beginning April 4.

According to a press release, Gabriel will perform versions of songs from his catalog that have been arranged for his New Blood Orchestra with longtime Gabriel collaborator John Metcalf. The New Blood Orchestra will be conducted by Ben Foster.

The show comes ahead of a new set from Gabriel and the New Blood Orchestra, expected later this year, which will also feature reinterpretations of Gabriel's hits in orchestral arrangements. Titled "New Blood," the forthcoming album is a continuation of a project Gabriel launched last year with the release of another orchestral album titled "Scratch My Back." That set featured covers of other artists' music, including David Bowie's "Heroes," Paul Simon's "The Boy in the Bubble" and Arcade Fire's "My Body is a Cage."
